Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000

This manual is published in accordance with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA") and the POPIA Regulations. PAIA gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the State or any information held by another person that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.
1. Introduction
The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA") gives effect to Section 32 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, which provides for the right of access to information.
PAIA requires every private body (which includes companies) to compile a manual that provides information about the records held by that body and the procedure for requesting access to such records.
This manual is compiled in accordance with Section 51 of PAIA and is available on request and on our website at https://goodsourcebos.co.za/legal/paia.

4. Guide on How to Use PAIA
The South African Human Rights Commission ("SAHRC") has published a guide on how to use PAIA in terms of Section 10 of PAIA. This guide is available from the SAHRC at www.sahrc.org.za.

6. How to Request Access to Records (Form C Procedure)
Any person wishing to request access to records held by GOODSOURCE BOS (PTY) LTD must comply with the following procedure:
Step 1: Complete Form C
Complete the prescribed Form C as set out in Regulation 7 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act. Form C is available from the SAHRC website or on request from our Information Officer.
Step 2: Submit the request
Submit the completed Form C to the Information Officer at:

Step 3: Pay the request fee
A request fee of R50.00 (fifty rand) is payable upon submission of the request form. This fee is non-refundable. Additional reproduction fees may be applicable depending on the format and volume of records requested, as prescribed by the Regulations.
Step 4: Response
We will respond to your request within 30 days of receiving the completed form and payment. We may extend this period by a further 30 days if the request is for a large volume of records, the request requires a search through a large number of records, or the request requires consultation with a third party.
7. Grounds for Refusal
Access to records may be refused on the following grounds as provided in PAIA:
- The record contains personal information about a third party who has not consented to disclosure
- The record contains confidential commercial information
- The record is protected by legal privilege
- Disclosure would endanger the safety or life of any person
- The record contains information supplied in confidence by a third party
- Disclosure would constitute contempt of court
- The record is privileged in terms of South African law
Where access is refused, we will provide written reasons for the refusal and inform you of your right to appeal or apply to the court for relief.
8. Internal Appeal
If your request is refused, you may lodge an internal appeal within 60 days of receiving the refusal notice. Internal appeals must be submitted in writing to the Information Officer at the contact details above.
If the internal appeal is unsuccessful, you may approach the High Court of South Africa for relief.
9. Availability of This Manual
This PAIA manual is available:
- On our website at https://goodsourcebos.co.za/legal/paia
- In printed form on request from the Information Officer at no charge
- Submitted to the South African Human Rights Commission as required by law
